Happy Monday, friends! Paper & Honey is one year old today! Well, technically her birthday was Saturday… but nobody blogs on Saturdays and I hadn’t taken these photos yet and also I may have misremembered the date as the 12th when it was actually the 10th. So happy one year and two days, P&H!
I wrote a fairly comprehensive recap of our first year together in my love letter to 2014, so this post will be short and sweet. A few months ago Kat sent out birthday cards for DSE’s first year and I LOVED it. We celebrate our own birthdays, parents celebrate their kids’ birthdays, so I can celebrate MY baby’s birthday… right? Is it weird that I refer to P&H as “my baby?” Probably. My baby is still pretty drooly and still has boundless things to learn, but she’s getting smarter and brighter by the day. She’s going to go places.

I was super inspired by Kat’s card and and couldn’t wait to design one of my own! A few weeks ago I plopped down on my bed, enjoyed some sunshine and the company of two sun-bathing pups, gave in to a few solo episodes of Downton Abbey (sorry Max), and cranked this bad boy out. I rarely get to work on a design that’s 100% hand lettered so this was both a challenge and a treat. I love the final result and, even more, I love that I can see my lettering technique and style improving with every project.
Each card was paired with an aubergine envelope and metallic gold liner, addressed with a gold paint pen, and shipped to the Paper & Honey friends, colleagues, and lovers who have supported this little dream of mine over the past 365 days. And by shipped I mean that they’re all currently sitting in my mailbox waiting to be delivered. And by all I mean half.
This blog post is getting REAL honest, isn’t it?
As much as I wish I could, it’s impossible for me to send a card to each and every person who has helped contribute to my first year with Paper & Honey. But girl, I see you. I see your Facebook comments and Instagram likes! I read your encouragement and I feel your love. And it means so much. I wouldn’t be here if not for the support of others. So THANK YOU, thank you endlessly.
Here’s to 365 more marvelous, challenging, just blissful, perfect days. xo
My one year is coming up too, but my first year was so much more about learning what not to do than figuring it all out. lol. I hope once my one year comes up I have it all worked out and I’m moving forward and not standing still. Congratulations fellow Michigan gal! Happy birthday!! 🙂
Happy Birthday Paper & Honey! What an exciting year for you! It’s been fun watching you expand and grow. I know the 2nd year will see even more new adventures and friendships. Wishing you many, many more years of perfect days! <3

You have been a true inspiration to me, and I’m so glad we started chatting + connecting a little bit in the last year. Also, I may or may not steal this idea for Whimsy + Wild’s birthday. And by may or may not, I mean I’m definitely going to. 😉
