Happy Monday, friends! Paper & Honey is one year old today! Well, technically her birthday was Saturday… but nobody blogs on Saturdays and I hadn’t taken these photos yet and also I may have misremembered the date as the 12th when it was actually the 10th. So happy one year and two days, P&H!
I wrote a fairly comprehensive recap of our first year together in my love letter to 2014, so this post will be short and sweet. A few months ago Kat sent out birthday cards for DSE’s first year and I LOVED it. We celebrate our own birthdays, parents celebrate their kids’ birthdays, so I can celebrate MY baby’s birthday… right? Is it weird that I refer to P&H as “my baby?” Probably. My baby is still pretty drooly and still has boundless things to learn, but she’s getting smarter and brighter by the day. She’s going to go places.

I was super inspired by Kat’s card and and couldn’t wait to design one of my own! A few weeks ago I plopped down on my bed, enjoyed some sunshine and the company of two sun-bathing pups, gave in to a few solo episodes of Downton Abbey (sorry Max), and cranked this bad boy out. I rarely get to work on a design that’s 100% hand lettered so this was both a challenge and a treat. I love the final result and, even more, I love that I can see my lettering technique and style improving with every project.
Each card was paired with an aubergine envelope and metallic gold liner, addressed with a gold paint pen, and shipped to the Paper & Honey friends, colleagues, and lovers who have supported this little dream of mine over the past 365 days. And by shipped I mean that they’re all currently sitting in my mailbox waiting to be delivered. And by all I mean half.
This blog post is getting REAL honest, isn’t it?
As much as I wish I could, it’s impossible for me to send a card to each and every person who has helped contribute to my first year with Paper & Honey. But girl, I see you. I see your Facebook comments and Instagram likes! I read your encouragement and I feel your love. And it means so much. I wouldn’t be here if not for the support of others. So THANK YOU, thank you endlessly.
Here’s to 365 more marvelous, challenging, just blissful, perfect days. xo
