Being in the wedding industry, it’s super common for me to fall in love with my couples and want to BFF them. #paperandhoneybride Lauren was no different! (I’m already mourning the lack of her emails in my inbox.) She wed her sweetheart AJ on the porch of The Olde Farmhouse Barn in Marshall, Michigan, in a private ceremony. And everything was absolutely perfect.
Lauren and AJ’s wedding stationery is full of meaning and intentional design — my very favorite aspect of any invitation suite. I’ll share more on a post specifically about their invites, but for now, enjoy photos of their special day along with a few of their thoughts! Chelsea Lusk did a phenomenal job capturing the love between these two, don’t you think?
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
Lauren — Once I was in the bridal suite with all of my girls, I looked out the window and saw AJ out on the lawn with all of his groomsmen. My eyes welled up with tears just seeing him out there and knowing we were SO close to being officially married! We also had about 10 minutes where we ran away from the reception and got to just sit down and have a little 1-on-1 time. Another great moment with my new husband.
AJ — Before the ceremony, all of my groomsmen went around and gave a toast/blessing over me. It was a very emotional moment between all of us. Lauren and I also got a little alone time to hang out and absorb what was going on around us which we really wanted.
Why was stationery an important role in your wedding planning?
Stationery is very much like a first impression as to how your special day is going to look. I’m extremely detail oriented and was super excited for this portion of the planning process.
How did you feel about your stationery after you had it in your hands?
Our stationery was an absolute show-stopper. The only way I can explain the feeling once I had our suite in front of me was a mix of Christmas morning excitement and first day of school jitters. To see something this perfect from start to finish was so rewarding.
What kind of feedback did you receive from your wedding guests?
We honestly had wedding guests calling and texting us JUST to tell us how gorgeous our stationery was. The most common response we received was “it’s too pretty to open!” We had guests who didn’t want to open the wax seal on our vellum wrap because they were so fabulous. Our wedding was almost a month ago and we still have friends who have our suite up on their fridge!
Where do you and AJ see yourselves when you’re old and grey? What do you want your marriage and your life together to have looked like?
AJ and I are truly best friends. We have known one another since the 2nd grade and hope to be causing trouble and making each other laugh for the rest of our lives. We’d love to be well traveled, exploring all over the world, looking back and being proud of what we’ve accomplished in this lifetime.
Is the Olde Farmhouse Barn picture-perfect or what?
What’s next for you two? Travel? Work promotions? DIY projects?
We are doing some mini renovations to the place we’ve called home for 7 years! We plan to put our house up for sale in the up-coming year and start fresh somewhere we can start our family.
What advice would you give to couples about to get married?
Lauren — Do your best to relax. Anticipate things not going perfectly, but just focus on the finish line. People will tell you that the day flies by and they are absolutely right. Just remember what this big day is all about!
AJ — Do what your fiancé says. Give your input where it’s important, but for the most part, your bride-to-be already has a vision. Just be her support system.
