I dabbled in collage a bit while working towards my degree, but mostly for fun and the miscellaneous art project. I never took it too seriously. After seeing these mixed media illustrations by artist Laura Redburn, I wish I had! I love the sunset colors, the bits of texture, the organic shapes. Her compositions look so effortless. Makes me want to spend this weekend with a pair of scissors and stack of old magazines to hack through.
Her site features work showcasing people, animals, and patterns. It’s probably a good thing I collected images for this post before finding her society6 – it’s filled with even more incredible collage work! I wouldn’t have been able to choose which pieces to show, so I would have just featured them all, leaving you to scroll and scroll and scroll until your eyes burst with the vast amounts of mixed-media beauty.
